Icetralia

Hi there,

I’m just writing to let you know that a comedy show featuring an Aussie expat is coming to Copenhagen on Aril 23. If you know of Aussie expats in Denmark who might be interested in this show please send them the information.

Icetralia is an international comedy event that features two different comedians from two very different islands.

Jonathan Duffy (AU) and Hugleikur Dagsson (IS) bring you everything you want in a comedy show; observations, obscenities and musical numbers.

Jonathan Duffy is an Australian born comedian and cabaret performer who moved to Iceland to avoid poisonous spiders and ex husbands. His comedy is like himself; gay, Australian and a bit desperate.

Hugleikur Daggson is a relatively talented Icelandic cartoonist who turned to stand up comedy to avoid real work. This brought him local fame, some money and a couple of diseases. His comedy is like himself; filthy, friendly and slightly autistic.

Icetralia will be at Nordatlantens Brygge (Strandgade 91, 1401 Kbh,K) on April 23 from 21:00.

Tickets are available through billetto.dk

Thanks for any time you have taken to read this

Regards

Jonathan Duffy

The Cat Empire

We received the following press release from the Danish organiser of The Cat Empire concerts in Århus and Copenhagen:

Australske The Cat Empire kommer til Danmark – og
udsender ny plade
"Et mere dansabelt liveband er sjældent set", har Gaffa skrevet om en
af The Cat Empires koncerter.
med det syvende: 'Rising with the Sun'.
kloden rundt for at følge idolerne i hælene.
THE CAT EMPIRE – ”Rising with the Sun Tour”
TRAIN, AARHUS: 6. NOVEMBER
AMAGER BIO, KØBENHAVN: 7. NOVEMBER
BILLETSALGET STARTER ONSDAG 9. MARTS KL. 10.00
BILLETPRIS (KBH): 280,- + gebyr
BILLETSALG (KBH): Billetlugen.dkf0d-47b6-ac95-abc7b15a676f.jpg

Café Evening 8 April 2016

Hi Everyone! Our next Café Evening is on Friday 8 April at 6.30pm. Someone from the committee will arrive between 6pm and 6.30pm with our flags. It will, like the last couple of months, be held at Floras Kaffebar (http://floraskaffebar.dk/), Blågårdsgade 27, 2200 København N, a comfortable café with a long history across the road from the even more famous Blågårds Apotek. Come early, as they close at 10pm.

Floras is within walking distance of the centre of Copenhagen, but faster and easier is to take bus 5A to Ravnsborggagde or the metro to Forum.

Café Evening 12 February 2016

Our next Café Evening will be held at Floras Kaffebar, Blågårdsgade 27, 2200 København N. You can walk there from Forum Metro Station or catch bus 5A a few stops from Nørreport. Floras is an institution that's been there quite some time. We earlier held a brunch there. We liked Paludan Book Cafe where we held a few café evenings, but it was difficult to get a table and the queue for drinks and eats was very long, so we're trying something new. Come along and meet other Kiwis and Aussies. New people are very welcome. Look out for the NZ and Aussie flags! We'll be there at 7.30pm. Simon

Christmas Get Together 12 Dec 2pm

Hi all,

Once again, the club has been somewhat inactive this year, for various reasons. Several of the committee have spent significant amounts of time down under this year, mostly to do with ageing family members back home. One of the committee even got posted to the US, without telling us!

However, we were thinking it was about time for a get together, and Christmas is as good an excuse as any - so, we would like to invite as many members and friends as can make it, to an afternoon with 'gløgg and æbleskiver', at Mark and Lotte's (Bernstorffsvej 5 in Hellerup), on Saturday the 12th of December, from 2pm (kl. 14 for those who have been here too long :-) ).

As per last year, we will supply gløgg, æbleskiver, tea/coffee, soft drinks for the kids and a nice warm fire.

We would like everyone to bring along an interesting Christmas delicacy - e.g. Pavlova from Australia (or was that from NZ?), mince pies from the UK, Stollen from Germany - be creative! - and some wine/beer if you're not into gløgg.

Please RSVP by Thursday the 10th of December, so we know how many cups, glasses and chairs to get out.

Cheers for now, and if we don't see you on the 12th, Merry Christmas from me and the (remaining) committee.

Mark Rogers
SCC Chairman
