Café Globen is at Turesensgade 2B, near H. C. Ørstedsparken, within walking distance of both Nørreport and Vesterport Stations and close to many bus routes. Their website at cafegloben.dk includes an introduction in English, but the events are only listed in Danish.

Café Globen is a cosy little travellers' pub run by members of a Danish travellers' club. The 12 September might be quite lively, as they're holding a beer tasting event at 5.30pm the same day. If you want to come to this you need to tell them beforehand. The beer is from Næstved Bryghus and the cost 100kr.

The next two pub evenings will be held on September 13 and November 8 at Café Globen, Turesensgade 5B, near Oerstedsparken and between Noerreport and Vesterport Stations. Come along and meet some fellow Aussies and Kiwis.
Our pub evenings are normally held monthly, but the second Friday of October is Kulturnat in Copenhagen. You could maybe look for others to experience it with you via this forum.

The club's AGM will be held on September 1 at 2pm. At 4pm there will be a BBQ. Members should have received information on this. Non-members are welcome to join us at the BBQ, although of course we'd love you to join the club. For details send a mail to committee@southerncrossclub.dk and Mark will reply to you.

'We have found a witch - may we burn her?' - Yes, it's that time of year
again in Denmark, where witches get burnt to honour Midsummer, so why not
join in and combine the best of both cultures, by having a barbie and a
bonfire?

After the success of the SCC (Belated) Anzac Day Barbie, Mark and Lotte
would like to invite as many SCC members as possible to their place on
Sunday June 23rd, from about 1600, with barbie around 1700-ish, and lighting
the fire (and the witch) around 19-2000 (a little earlier than traditional
for DK, to be kind to the 'kids' present).

Once again, it'll be a BYO barbie - bring your own meat and drinks (and
maybe a chair, if possible) plus a plate/bowl of salad to share. Mark and
Lotte will, like last time, provide some snags/hot dogs for the kids,
marshmallows for the fire (once it's died down a little) and maybe some
damper dough. With any luck, the only thing we'll be burning apart from
witches is.......?

PUB EVENING
Our next pub evening is on Friday 14 June at Café Globen, the travellers'
club pub at Turesensgade 2B, near H. C. Ørstedsparken and within walking
distance of both Nørreport and Vesterport Stations as well as a myriad of
bus routes. We'll be there at 7.30pm. Look out for the flags. If you want to
come earlier there's happy hour from 3pm to 6pm! If you want to buy
takeaways from any of the nearby takeaway places you're welcome to take them
in and Globen will lend you knives and forks or whatever to eat them.

There was a good turnout last month, so we hope for a repeat of the success
this month.

Remember that we have a pub evening on the 2nd Friday of every month. The
plan now is to hold them regularly at Café Globen, but check our website in
case of any changes.

Wellington band Fat Freddy's Drop are again visiting Copenhagen! They play in Stor Vega on October 8. Their concerts are normally sold out here, so get in on www.vega.dk and buy your tickets (265kr). There're usually quite a bunch of Kiwis there when they play (including yours truly).

Mark and Lotte would like to know if there is anyone interested in coming round to their place for a belated anzac day bbq on Saturday the 4th of May - originally it was intended to be a southern cross club event, but dave couldn't get the newsletter out on time, so now they've just decided to invite people round themselves.

The plan is to have a few drinks from around kl. 15, then crank up the barbie about 16-1700 ish. Sounds like the weather will be good for a change, so the kids will have a chance to enjoy the swings and trampoline outside. They may even try to get a small fire going in the outdoor fireplace - damper and marshmallows anyone?

As it's not a club event, they thought it would be easiest to make it a BYO barbie - maybe bring a bowl of salad or similar to share, plus whatever meat you'd like.

Please feel free to ask any friends, etc. along as well - the more the merrier.
