Café Evening 12 February 2016

Our next Café Evening will be held at Floras Kaffebar, Blågårdsgade 27, 2200 København N. You can walk there from Forum Metro Station or catch bus 5A a few stops from Nørreport. Floras is an institution that's been there quite some time. We earlier held a brunch there. We liked Paludan Book Cafe where we held a few café evenings, but it was difficult to get a table and the queue for drinks and eats was very long, so we're trying something new. Come along and meet other Kiwis and Aussies. New people are very welcome. Look out for the NZ and Aussie flags! We'll be there at 7.30pm. Simon

Christmas Get Together 12 Dec 2pm

Hi all,

Once again, the club has been somewhat inactive this year, for various reasons. Several of the committee have spent significant amounts of time down under this year, mostly to do with ageing family members back home. One of the committee even got posted to the US, without telling us!

However, we were thinking it was about time for a get together, and Christmas is as good an excuse as any - so, we would like to invite as many members and friends as can make it, to an afternoon with 'gløgg and æbleskiver', at Mark and Lotte's (Bernstorffsvej 5 in Hellerup), on Saturday the 12th of December, from 2pm (kl. 14 for those who have been here too long :-) ).

As per last year, we will supply gløgg, æbleskiver, tea/coffee, soft drinks for the kids and a nice warm fire.

We would like everyone to bring along an interesting Christmas delicacy - e.g. Pavlova from Australia (or was that from NZ?), mince pies from the UK, Stollen from Germany - be creative! - and some wine/beer if you're not into gløgg.

Please RSVP by Thursday the 10th of December, so we know how many cups, glasses and chairs to get out.

Cheers for now, and if we don't see you on the 12th, Merry Christmas from me and the (remaining) committee.

Mark Rogers
SCC Chairman

Fat Freddy's Drop 3 April 2016

Wellington band Fat Freddy's Drop have proved so successful in Denmark that their annual concerts here are always sold out! Their concert on 30 November 2015 is no exception. The organisers have taken pity on those unable to get tickets and moved the venue for the next concert on 3 April 2016 from Store Vega to Falconer Salen. Ticket sales start on Monday 16 November 2015 at 10am. Don't miss out!

Black Friday Café Evening Nov 13

Hi all,

As I'm sure you're all aware, tomorrow is Friday the 13th of November, apparently also this year known as Black Friday.

I'm sure you're also all aware that it's the second Friday of the month, and therefore, also time for the SCC Cafe night. I'm sure all you Aussies are just itching to hear yet more gloating from the Kiwis - apparently they won a rugby match, or something......

Once again, this month we've chosen to head to Paludan's Bookshop Cafe on Fiolstræde. I'm sure you've all walked past it or been in there - it serves a good range of beers at ok prices (this is Copenhagen, after all) and the food is excellent.

So if you're at a loose end for tomorrow evening, please join us at Paludan's, from around 1930 onwards.

Cheers,
Mark
SCC Chairman

Café Evening Friday 11 Sept 2015

This Friday we're meeting up at Paludans Bogcafé at 7.30pm. Come early, as they close at 10pm. Here you'll find both food, drinks and books. The address is Fiolstræde 12, 1117 København K, opposite the University Library. (If you are a student take your ID as they offer student discount on ½ litre Carlsbergs).

This is instead of our pub evening at Cafe Globen.

In October we'll neither have a café nor pub evening as it clashes with Kulturnat. We'll plan something for November, which will be posted here.

Cheers, Simon

ANZAC DAY AT GALLIPOLI 2015

This year is the centenary for the Gallipoli landing. Admission to Gallipoli is by ticket only, each country being given a certain number of tickets to distribute. I've been lucky enough to receive 2 tickets through the waiting list, and at present the second ticket is "nameless". Is anyone interested in coming with me? I have to reply before February 2. More information is to be found at http://www.gallipoli2015.govt.nz/
